Engineering hiding in plain sight

There’s a reason it works that way.

Quiet Mechanisms creates short, source-based videos about the overlooked engineering behind everyday objects, buildings, and infrastructure.

How the upload app works

Our private Shorts Control app selects an unused idea, researches its claims, drafts a short script, creates original narration and visuals, and prepares a video. The owner authorizes the app with Google OAuth and selects Public, Unlisted, or Private visibility for future uploads to the Quiet Mechanisms YouTube channel. Public is the default. The app records the resulting video link and marks the idea used only after confirming that YouTube applied the chosen visibility.

Shorts Control uses YouTube API Services and requests only the YouTube upload permission. It does not ask viewers to sign in, and the upload dashboard is accessible only to the owner on a private network. Read the YouTube Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

What to expect

Each video starts with a question about a real design choice or system.
Claims are checked against reputable sources before a script is made.
Some visuals and narration are generated with AI services to illustrate the explanation.
